Midwives know normal, physiologic birth

The Village Experience

At The Village Midwives, care is built through relationships. We believe families deserve to feel deeply known, listened to, and supported throughout one of life’s most transformative seasons.

By intentionally keeping our practice volume low, we are able to offer care that feels personal, connected, and unrushed. We value time, meaningful conversation, continuity and creating space for families to feel informed and empowered in their decisions.

Our work extends beyond appointments and birth itself. We walk alongside families through pregnancy, postpartum, newborn transition, and the early unfolding of parenthood with presence, collaboration, and compassion.

Prenatal Care

Our prenatal care includes comprehensive prenatal visits, routine monitoring of both parent and baby throughout pregnancy, recommended labs and testing, birth education, nutritional and holistic wellness support, and ongoing guidance as you prepare to welcome your baby.

Visits are held in the comfort of your home, allowing care to unfold in a space where you feel most relaxed, supported, and truly seen. This model of midwifery care is designed to feel thorough and deeply personal.

We intentionally create time for meaningful connection, education, questions, and individualized care throughout pregnancy while thoughtfully monitoring the health and wellbeing of both parent and baby along the way.

Prenatal visits include:

  • Routine assessment and monitoring of both maternal and fetal wellbeing throughout pregnancy, including blood pressure, fetal growth, heart tones, and fetal positioning
  • Collection and coordination of recommended prenatal labs and testing
  • Nutritional and holistic wellness support
  • Birth education and preparation
  • Emotional support and nervous system centered care
  • Informed decision making and collaborative care planning
  • Access to trusted village referrals and resources when needed

Prenatal care is scheduled:

Every 4 weeks until 28 weeks

Every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 weeks

Weekly beginning at 36 weeks until birth

Because we intentionally keep our practice volume low, visits are able to remain spacious and relationship-based, giving you time to ask questions, process, prepare, and feel genuinely supported throughout your pregnancy journey.

Labor Care & Support

When the time comes to welcome your baby, your midwives provide experienced, attentive care throughout labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period in the comfort of your home or chosen birth space.

Our approach to birth is rooted in presence, clinical skill, trust, and respect for the physiologic birth process. We thoughtfully monitor the wellbeing of both parent and baby throughout labor while supporting an environment that feels calm, grounded, safe, and deeply supportive.

Beginning at 37 weeks, your midwives are on call for you 24 hours a day through birth, allowing us to remain accessible, prepared, and fully present as your birth window approaches.

Postpartum & Newborn Care

We believe postpartum care is an essential part of caring for the whole family, not simply a brief follow up after birth. The weeks after welcoming a baby are a time of physical healing, emotional transition, nourishment, bonding, and learning your new rhythm together, and you deserve continued support through all of it.

Our care continues in your home during the postpartum period, allowing space for rest, recovery, questions, reassurance, and ongoing connection as your family settles in.

POSTPARTUM AND NEWBORN CARE INCLUDES:

  • In-home postpartum visits for both parent and baby
  • Ongoing assessment of maternal healing, recovery, and emotional wellbeing
  • Newborn wellness monitoring including weight checks, feeding assessment, and transition to life outside the womb
  • Nursing and infant feeding support with experience in holistic lactation care, oral restrictions, and tongue tie support for the mother baby dyad
  • Guidance, education, and support as families adjust to life with a new baby
  • Emotional support and space to process your birth experience
  • Newborn metabolic screening and CCHD screening
  • Preparation and filing of birth certificate and newborn state screening documentation
  • Postpartum blood work collection when indicated to support recovery and healing
  • Well woman care for established clients including cervical cancer screening, pelvic exams, and family planning support
  • Coordination of referrals and collaborative support with trusted village providers when needed

POSTPARTUM VISITS ARE SCHEDULED:

  • Within the first 24 to 48 hours after birth
  • A home visit around 1 to 2 weeks postpartum
  • A virtual visit around 4 weeks postpartum
  • A home visit around 6 weeks postpartum

We value caring for the whole family through this transition and believe strong postpartum support often includes community care as well. When needed, we help connect families with trusted local providers and village connections including:

  • Pediatricians
  • Chiropractors
  • Bodyworkers
  • Pelvic floor therapists
  • Mental health professionals
  • Lactation Consultants
  • Pediatric dentists and oral restriction specialists
  • Local support groups and motherhood community spaces

Our goal is for families to feel supported, informed, nourished, and genuinely cared for as they move through the early postpartum season and beyond.

Payment plans

For families entering care early in pregnancy, and we are happy to discuss individualized payment arrangements when needed.

We accept:

HSA and FSA payments

Cash, check, ACH transfer, Zelle and credit card payments.

Credit card payments include a 3-4% processing fee

Please note additional fees may apply for births requiring extended travel outside our standard service area.

While midwifery care is typically paid out of pocket, we work with a biller who can help families pursue possible insurance reimbursement depending on their plan. We are happy to provide superbills and supporting documentation when applicable.

One benefit many families appreciate is that labs, ultrasounds, and many outside services are often able to be billed directly through insurance separately from your midwifery care.

For many families, the overall cost of home birth midwifery care is comparable to, or even less than, the out-of-pocket costs often associated with hospital birth depending on insurance plans and deductibles, while also offering highly individualized prenatal, birth, postpartum, and newborn care.

We are always happy to schedule a consultation to answer questions, discuss payment options, and help families determine whether our model of care feels like the right fit for them.
